CASA DELLA FOTOGRAFIA DI ROMA
Since 2006, Casa della Fotografia di Roma has been the reference point for those who experience photography as a profession, a study, or pure passion. After twenty years of activity and milestones — such as the Month of Photography (MFR19) and the WEFO 2020 festival — the institution evolves into a new, prestigious headquarters.
Founded by Gilberto Maltinti (President) and Ermanno Campita (Secretary), with Paolo Franzò (Vice President), Casa della Fotografia is today a unique ecosystem dedicated to visual culture.
AN EXTRAORDINARY LOCATION
The new headquarters is located in Piazza Jan Palach 30, in the heart of the Villaggio Olimpico. It sits within one of the Capital’s most vibrant cultural hubs, just steps from iconic institutions such as:
- Auditorium Parco della Musica – Ennio Morricone
- MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Arts
- Ponte Milvio, Ponte della Musica and the Palazzetto dello Sport
FOUR SOULS, ONE VISION
The structure was designed to be a place of work and inspiration, organized into four distinct areas.
The Gallery
A professional, bright exhibition space, curated down to the smallest detail. Not just a neutral room, but a place of daily passage for professionals and students — ideal for photographic exhibitions, video installations, meetings and cultural events.
The Photo Studio
A 40 sqm studio with 3.5-meter ceilings, complete equipment and controlled lighting. Designed for shootings, video productions, interviews and social media content. Includes professional backdrops, lighting sets, makeup area, dressing room and lounge.
The Library
A true sanctuary of vision with over 1,000 volumes spanning two centuries of history. From the Great Masters like Cartier-Bresson and Capa, to technical manuals, avant-garde reportage and limited edition artist books.
The Classroom
40 sqm with 30 seats and a professional video projector: the space where everything happens — courses, workshops, individual lessons, portfolio critiques. An environment designed for those who want to grow, whether taking their first shots or already well into a professional path. Your questions find their answers here.
EDUCATION, ETHICS & OUTREACH
Casa della Fotografia is not just a physical space, but an institution committed to social engagement and education.
- Excellence in Education — Courses, workshops, conferences and individual lessons to develop technique and a critical eye.
- Social Commitment — Free outreach in schools and courses for disadvantaged individuals, in collaboration with the Comunità di Sant’Egidio.
- Conservation — Protection and archiving of historical collections to preserve our visual heritage.
- Major Events — Organizing and promoting RIPA (Rome International Photo Award).
